Christie Wong (Creative Writing)
Creative Writing Instructor and Coach
Christie has always had an affinity to all things creative. She is fascinated and drawn by crafts, drawing and creative problem solving. She has also self-published a book of her own poetry and was an Artist in Residence at Project 40 Collective in 2019. She uses her passion for the arts in her teaching, opening minds and changing perspectives.
She was born in Hong Kong and raised in Toronto since she was three years old. From a very young age she had travelled many new countries and cities with her family, including: Korea, Vancouver, Boston, and Australia. Settling in the GTA, she moved around the suburbs and downtown core, going to over 10 different schools before university. Later in adulthood she continued to travel and learn new things, travelling and living in Rwanda, Hong Kong, Central America and USA. Her diverse educational experiences, combined with her fluency in Chinese and beginner Spanish help her to identify and bond with students from a variety of socio-cultural backgrounds.
Christie is passionate about empowering others and has coached, mentored, and taught several students from preschool ages to mature adult over the last decade in art and writing. She is a well-rounded person with a passion for and using art as a means for learning, healing and listening to the self. Christie specializes in teaching creative writing, with a focus on poetry. She is excited to teach and mentor others through transitions and help give them the tools to reach their full potential on the page, and in life.
